Under the Mango Trees

No fancy church building or comfortable pews, no fancy clothes, or hymn books, however under the mango trees is all we needed to provide a great setting for many good teaching times, prayer times, and fellowship times.

The Simple Life

We live in such an instant society, oh to get back to the simple way of life. Well, while we were with our brothers and sisters it was like a step back in time. And we were enjoying a simpler way of life. The pictures with our water pump show our high tech water filtering system. Our clothes got wet but I am not sure how clean they actually got. I was just glad that I was not washing clothes for the whole family.

Chestnuts Roasting over an Open Fire

There were a lot of things roasting and cooking over our open fire the last couple of weeks, however, chestnuts were not one of them. I think the fish fry was one of Vern’s favorite meals. He enjoyed heading up the fish fry.

The Church

Thanks so much for your prayers for us and our time with our brothers and sisters. Our time was very profitable. There was much time spent in the Word and in prayer . There were so many encouraging and positive things happening. I wish you could have all been there together with us for our communion service to hear their testimonies. Please be praying for our brothers and sisters as they get back to the normal grind of life. They face much opposition and need our prayers as they seek to teach and spread the gospel to all those in walking distance. One dear brother walks four hours one way to teach the Word. How many of us would be willing to do that? (When we get home we will be sending out a more detailed account of your time with the church, and we will be sending pictures. If you do not receive our updates and would like to hear more, please send me an email.)

Prayer Hotline

We would like to ask you to pray for our dear daughter who is sick again. She has not been feeling well for several weeks. Last week she went into the doctor and had some blood test run. The doctor called with the news that she has mono again. She is off of school and work and is spending a lot of time sleeping and trying to recover. Please pray with us that she can get over this once and for all. It was VERY hard to get this news while we are so far away from her. We are so thankful for family and friends who have been doing things for her, calling her, sending her notes of encouragement and just loving on her. It has meant so much.

Happy Valentine's Day

Our Valentine's Day started out early this morning as we were on the road all day. As I got in the car there was a Valentine's card on my seat! How special to know my hubby carried that all the way from Canada to surprise me this morning. What a wonderful way to start out the day. Here are some shots of our Valentine's Day Road Trip.

ARRIVED

We arrived safely with all our luggage. Thanks so much for your prayers. We will be taking off any minute for a five-seven hour road trip.

Ground Hog Day

We don't know what "Wiarton Willie" predicted about an early spring. But since we are going to be enjoying some warmth for the next month we will be able to handle a long winter if that is what happens. Here are some of our shots of how we spent Ground Hog Day. (The one with the wing of the airplane is of our plane being deiced.)

Thanks Doug and Pat!

On the path of life we have the priviege of meeting some really neat people. This is Doug and Pat who gave us food and shelter during our snow storm. However, they did so much more. It was like a breath of fresh air to spend the day with them. Thanks Doug and Pat. Keep making a difference in this world!

Canceled

That's right we are snowed in here in Toronto. Our flight was canceled and there is no leaving today. We have rebooked for about 6:30 a.m. We would appreciate your prayers that we can indeed leave tomorrow morning. We are very thankful for some dear folks (our pastor's sister and husband) who have opened up their home to us and are even willing to take us to the airport at 4:00 a.m. We didn't even know them but they have rolled out the red carpet and made us feel right at home. What a blessing!
