Many of you have prayed for our daughter Ruth and all of her health issues. We have tried many different things in trying to build up her immune system before she heads off to college. She has been working with our doctor and had a bunch of blood work done. They were testing her for many different things but there was one, that was a major concern. We just found out today that this test came back negative. We are Praising the Lord for this answer to prayer. She is still working through some things as she is wanting to head off to university in the fall as healthy as possible. Thanks for your continued prayers for her!

Today Vern's dad is celebrating his 88th birthday. Happy Birthday Dad! We sure wish we could all be there to celebrate your special day. We thank God for the Godly example you have been to us and our children of a man who walks with God. We love you.
Four of our children sleep with fans on all night as they need the noise. However, last nights thing warmed up enough that we actually needed a fan to cool down. Just a couple days ago it snowed and we know we could very easily get more snow still, but we are really enjoying the warmer weather. It sure is a nice break after the long winter.
There is never a good time to have a melt down. However, today was the chosen day for the fan in the freezer part of our fridge to break down. Our fridge is only five and a half years old and unfortunately this is the second time we have had to replace the fan. We were getting ready for supper and Ruth noticed things in the freezer starting the "Great Melt Down". About ten minutes before closing time we were able to locate a store that had the part we needed, however we were not going to make it there before they closed. We started trying to figure out what we could do with everything in our fridge. Then five minutes later the man from the appliance store called saying he would stay late so we could pick up the part we needed. How neat to see this man, so willing to help us out so we wouldn't have to deal with a REALLY BIG melt down. Vern was able to get the fridge up and running within a short amount of time. It was nice we were able to get it fixed without calling a repair man. Although this was not in our plan for this evening it was so cool to see how God worked everything out so we could start chillin out again.
For the past four days I have been taking on what I like to call my "Toothpaste Challenge". On Monday the tube of tooth paste I was using seemed to be all out. But as I worked with the tube I figured I could get one more use out of it. Here we are on Friday and I am continuing to do the old "Squeeze Play", feeling a bit victorious each time I get just a little more toothpaste out. Now I do have another tube of tooth paste I could use, but that would make life too easy and I wouldn't be able to enjoy my little "Toothpaste Challenge" a couple times a day. I personally feel like little challenges like this add spice to life and keep me sane. However, if you asked my children, they would probably tell you this is what makes me insane.
It has been a long time in coming as it has been a long winter, however, this evening we were able to go on our first motor bike ride of 2009. The wind made it a little chilly, but it was nice to go for a little spin around Durham.
The other day we passed through Hopeville. Now you might never be passing through Hopeville here on this earth, as I had never passed through it before a couple of days ago. However, as I was passing through there, it just got me thinking of all those people who are passing through this life and they have no eternal hope. I am so thankful that I have something even better then Hopeville here on this earth. I have a heavenly Hopeville waiting for me. This Easter morning I had two visitors in my Sunday school class that knew very little about God. It was so neat to share with them about God's plan of salvation and the hope we have waiting in heaven. In Christ Alone, Our Hope is found.
In Awana this week we focused on the Easter Story. The parents and siblings were invited to join us for the night. There were about six stations set up to teach the kids about Easter and the salvation message. This is the presentation that Zachary and Ruth did.
Today we enjoyed celebrating Good Friday with our church family. It was a thrill to see five people declare their faith in the Lord and follow him in baptism. We then shared the Lord's Supper together. "While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us!" What amazing love Christ demonstrated! Now I stand forgiven. WOW! Thank-you Lord!

We have had quite the fluctuation in weather here the last week. I try to exercise every morning as soon as I get up. I often like to go outside and stand on our porch to help cool down. I was standing there this morning enjoying the nice crisp morning. But some how it sure felt a lot more like February then April. However, Sunday we did enjoy a beautiful day and even enjoyed some of our flowers that are coming up. So we are getting teased that spring might arrive some time.

We have been waiting for a nice sunny day to be able to get some graduation pictures taken of Ruth. This afternoon turned out to be a beautiful afternoon so we called up a friend who is a very gifted photographer to get some shots. We had a nice walk around the campus as we stopped and took shots in different locations. Thanks so much Natasha, you did a GREAT JOB!
Ruth and I have had it on the calendar for a little while that we were going to go out and look for a graduation dress today. We were not thrilled to wake up and see that it had snowed last night. (Although, I sure heard the wind blowing like crazy all night.) We started off down the road and didn't get more than a couple of miles and the road was closed due to an accident. Therefore we had to take some side roads around the accident. Talk about treacherous road conditions! The side roads were in very bad shape and it was with a big sigh of relieve that we made it safely to the main road again. So for the first hour we had to deal with poor road conditions. You got to love spring in Ontario! Although, we had some snowy roads, and high winds all day, our trip was a success. And we made some memories of this spring mother/daughter day out.
