Happy Anniversary Caleb and Kristina

Happy 4th Anniversary Caleb and Kristina! We are so sorry you aren't able to be together to celebrate. but in a few days you can celebrate together. Four years ago you started a journey in life together. Although you haven't gone too far down that path yet, you have already experienced a few things in life together. Continue to invest in your relationship with each other and keep that fire burning. We love you and are here cheering you on!

Casualties?

We made it home safe after over 14,000 km. traveled. Thanks so much for all your prayers for us. It was SOOOO good to connect with so many of you. You are such an encouragement to us! This morning it was time to count the casualties. Unfortunately we returned to four dead plants. However, Cuddles is still alive! Yes!

Family Bonding Time

While we have been in Chicago we have spent some days at my parents place. Since my dad is my mom's caregiver he has not been able to get to any projects around the house that need to get done. Therefore the family and my brother Charles worked together on some projects outside. (I was working on some things inside so wasn't able to bond in the same way as everyone else.) Thanks for all your hard work, FAMILY! You did a GREAT job!

Please Pray

Caleb and Kristina are in the process of moving back to Ontario. Kristina is already up in Ontario. Caleb is in Chicago and there are two things holding up the move. 1.) He is waiting for some important paper to come through 2.)Before he can move everything out of his apartment he needs stairs to be built so he can move everything out. We would REALLY appreciate your prayers that in the next couple of days these things would come together so that he can move.

How Much Do You REALLY want a Clean Car?

Just when you thought it was safe to take your car through the car wash, you realize what a dangerous task it really is.

A Walk Down Memory Lane

We have been storing some barrels at one of my sisters' house for many years. Yesterday I sorted through them giving a lot of things away. However, I did find some treasures in there. I found my high school class ring, high school year books, old pictures, an old diary, old glasses, Caleb's 1st. year baby calendar, the baby shoes I had for my children, and many more gems. It was a lot of fun to take a Walk Down Memory Lane.

Take a Second Look

I thought I would post a picture of some interesting signs or things we saw on our trip out West that I didn’t put under any other post.

A Taste of Chicago

One of our favorite foods is a Chicago Stuffed Pizza. If you have never tasted Chicago Stuffed Pizza you have really missed out. It is something you actually have to order here in Chicago. We have ordered it in other States that advertise they have Chicago Stuffed Pizza, however when the pizza comes, it is just a pan pizza which is Very different from a Stuffed Pizza. The Chicago Stuffed Pizza has an awesome crust. The middle is composed of three different kinds of cheese. You can have any ingredient like sausage, onions, green peppers put into the cheese if you want. Then on the top is the sauce. It all comes together as an AMAZING taste. So if you are ever passing through Chicago make sure you don't leave without eating a Chicago Stuffed Pizza.

Cub Fans of the World Unite

As many of you know I come from a big family and they are all big sports fans. The family is quite split on who is the favorite Chicago baseball team, the Sox or the Cubs. If you want to start a hot family discussion just happen to say some thing about either one of those teams. I happen to be a Sox fan. However, when we were 2500 miles away, in northern B.C.; who do I meet, but a Cubs fan. I was so surprised to find someone so far away who loved the Cubs. So I can not believe I am even saying this out loud and my family members who are Cubs fans will never let me live this down. But I went out and bought a Cubs hat and t-shirt. No, I DO NOT plan on wearing it, but I will be sending it to Peter so when he is cheering on the Cubs he can wear the right outfit. So to all my family Cubs fan, I am helping to support your cause. Enjoy Peter!

Are We There Yet?

Last night we arrived in Chicago. We will be here a few days before making the final leg of our journey home. It will be so nice to have a few days out of the van before we head home. It is amazing how small a van really is when it is packed pretty full and you clock quiet a few miles each day living in it. We would appreciate your prayers for my mother who has been in the hospital twice already this month.

Sleepless in South Dakota

We have been on the road for the last 32 hours and it was nice to get off the road early this evening. We once again passed a lot of wild life and were very glad that nothing ran out in front of our van. As evening was falling things sure turned interesting. We ended up in a very small, almost abandoned town which felt very creepy. Not long after getting back onto the right road again it started raining. It ended up turning into a nine hour thunderstorm. It hailed on us three different times. With the hail and thunderstorm we were moving along VERY slowly. At about 11:00p.m. we tried to get a hotel for the night. After about the third hotel we found out that there was a motor bike convention in town and every hotel for several hours in either direction was booked up. At midnight we pulled into a rest stop to sleep. After about 45 minutes of not being able to sleep we started on the road again. It was still raining quite hard so our snail's pace continued. A little after 3:00a.m. we decided to pull into another rest area. We were there for 2 1/2 hours and then we started on our way again. We sure felt your prayers for us yesterday and today as we encountered many obstacles, lack of sleep being a major one today. We are all looking forward to a good nights sleep before we head out on the road again tomorrow to continue our "Road Trip Saga".
