Best Day Ever

In the words of Zachary this is the "Best Day Ever". It not only happens to be a Friday but it also happens to be a Snow Day. We had quite a snow storm here yesterday and during the night. The highway that Zachary takes to work is CLOSED. It is actually against the law to travel on roads that are closed. With all the snow we have had this winter, just once he wanted to have a SNOW DAY. So today is that day. Vern and I are heading to the airport today. We will be taking a different roads, that at this point are open. We would appreciate your prayers for safety on this winter roads.

All Clear

Ruth and Zachary were at the doctor last week getting check-ups for college. One of the things they needed to do was to get a T.B. test. Pretty simple little test, however, Zachary's skin reacted to the test. In Venezuela all babies are given a shot called "BCG". Once a person has had that shot it is hard to tell whether a person has T.B. or whether they are reacting because of the shot they had as a baby. (Even though Ruth got that same shot as a baby her skin did not react at all.) Since the results were questionable Zachary went in for a chest x-ray to make sure he was carrying T.B. in his body. (During our time in Venezuela we actually did treat people that had T.B. So it would not have been outside of the realm of possibility that Zachary had T.B.) He got his results today that every thing is "All Clear". We were VERY happy to for the good news, as the treatment to clear your system of T.B. is a six month treatment.

The Graduating Class of 2008

We just finished enjoying the kids field day (pictures will be coming,) and we will be taking off for Chicago, as soon as Seth gets home from work. It will be a late night and we would appreciate your prayers as we travel into the wee hours of the morning. We will be spending the night in Chicago and then we are heading up to Waukesha, WI. tomorrow afternoon for Zachary's graduation from the New Tribes Bible Institute. We are looking forward to celebrating this big event with Zachary.

A Walk In Grace

Our trip down to Grace was a very quick trip and it was a bit of a whirlwind. We had a tour of the campus, had several meetings with different department heads, met together with the Financial Aid Office, and then Zachary had a time on the soccer field. We had a very nice time walking through Grace. They have a lovely campus and a really neat staff. Their heart to see their students walk with the Lord and make a difference in this world came through loud and clear. It was a bit unfortunate that it was pouring rain for the soccer try out. I didn't want to get the camera wet so I don't have pictures of that. We would appreciate your prayers for Zachary and his future. Right now it seems like there is a pretty big mountain that needs to be moved in order for him to be able to attend Grace in the fall. However, we know that God Is Able to move that mountain if He wants Zachary at Grace in the fall.

Campus Visit

We are taking off in a few minutes to take Zachary on a campus visit to Grace college in IN. Tomorrow we will have a tour of the campus , and meet together with the financial aid office as well as meet some of the staff in some of the areas he is interested in studying. Then in the afternoon Zachary will also be trying out for the soccer team. He has been excepted to attend Grace in the fall however, we are still working through all the financial issues in making it possible to go there. He is trying out for the team in hopes that he might be able to get some sort of soccer scholarship to help with financing his schooling. If you think of him tomorrow he would appreciate your prayers as he plays with the team and is evaluated. Go Zachary!

Welcome Home

Zachary and I made it home yesterday morning a little after 4:00. It was a long trip but we were very glad that all went well for us on the road. Since Zachary wasn't able to come home for Christmas we are excited to have him home for this week. Welcome Home Zachary, we are enjoying having you home. The week will go by too fast.

Airport Run

It was off to the airport again this afternoon. With it being such a beautiful day it seemed like everyone was out and about on the roads. All went very smoothly at the airport. Zachary's flight actually arrived a half an hour early. (That sure doesn't happen too often.) It worked out that Caleb and Seth were able to pick Zachary up in Chicago when he arrived. After Vern and I dropped Zachary off at the airport we took different route home so we could enjoy a different view of all the fall colors. Vern was just dreaming of being on his bike instead of the van. (smile)

A Snap Shot of the Weekend

Well the 2 1/2 days that Zachary was home with us went by way too fast. It was so nice to have him home again. Zachary seems to have a hollow leg so we tried to keep him well feed while he was home. Ruth was pretty busy all weekend with work and then driver's ed so she wasn't able to hang with her brother as much as she would have liked. Thanks for the visit Zachary we enjoyed having you home!

AA 564

Last night after Cubbies Vern and I took off to pick up Zachary from the Toronto airport. He flew in for medical reasons and will be here for a few days. His plane landed around 11:00 p.m. therefore we arrived back home here at 1:45 a.m. Zachary was at the clinic this morning and now we will enjoy spending a couple of days together before his return flight Sunday afternoon. I have already been busy cooking and baking some of his favorite meals as we know the weekend will go by too quickly.

Will Work For School Bill

Today was the first official day of classes for Seth and Zachary at Bible school. They will also start filling out applications and applying for jobs so they can pay off their school bills. If you think of them, pray that they will both find jobs in the near future. THANKS!

Return to Reality

It was so nice having Zachary home for his spring break. I think he had a relaxing time sleeping in and just hanging here with the family. But it was time for him to Return to Reality. Yesterday we took him and his friend Jon to the Buffalo airport to head back to Bible school. All went well with their flight and their suitcases arrived with them! YEA! It will only be about five weeks and he will be home for the summer. If you think of him you could pray that things work out for him to find a job for the summer.

Run Away Bag

At 12:15 a.m. we received the long awaited phone call. Zachary's suitcase had arrived here on the campus! YES! Now, mind you, we weren't too excited that we received this phone call at 12:15 a.m. but the lost had been found. We tried giving the driver of the delivery van directions to our house but after about ten minutes it became apparent that he could not find our house and Vern and Zachary went out to find him. I phoned the baggage claim people countless times in the last couple of days and we were beginning to lose hope after they admitted yesterday morning that they had no idea where the suitcase was. But the lost has been found and Zachary is enjoying wearing his own clothes again.

LOST!

Last night Zachary arrived home as he is now on spring break. It will be good to have him home. I don't know how much we will actually see him as he is planning on spending a lot of time sleeping and eating. (Up until two weeks ago he was working full time plus going to school full time so he was not getting much sleep.) I think I will spend my week cooking and baking. It seemed a bit odd when he walked in the door empty handed. Yes, his luggage got lost. It seems like this is happening to a lot of people we know. So I guess it is now our turn. Although he did leave a few clothes items here we will need to make a run to Wal-Mart to pick up a few essentials. We are looking forward to the week ahead and making some fun family memories together.

What's new with Vern and Holly
