Spring Break

Did I happen to mention it was SPRING break? Today is a nice and sunny day out there. But for much of the break is has been cold and we have been getting some snow. Yesterday you would have thought we were in the middle of Christmas break. We had planned out a lot of things we wanted to do with Zachary while he was home. Our plans changed for last night though, when we were in the middle of a snow storm. We were going to go out bowling but some friends returned from a almost near head on collision; therefore we realized it was better to stay off the roads. We have been having a good time as a family even when "mother nature" decides to change our plans. It has also been nice that so many of the students have been around for the break and we have been able to enjoy some times of connecting with them as well. Yesterday Vern was able to have a group of guys over for a pancake breakfast. I think I went a little over kill on all the pancakes I made though. Anyway, it has been a good "SPRING" break.

Waffle House

Yesterday Ruth and I invited some ladies over for breakfast. It was nice to visit over breakfast. We decided to make five different types of waffles. Besides the normal waffle recipe we also tried chocolate, cinnamon apple, blueberry, and bacon. We had many different toppings to put on the waffles. I think my favorite was the blueberry waffle with the blueberry sauce, although the chocolate waffle with strawberries and whipped cream was a close second.

Return to Reality

It was so nice having Zachary home for his spring break. I think he had a relaxing time sleeping in and just hanging here with the family. But it was time for him to Return to Reality. Yesterday we took him and his friend Jon to the Buffalo airport to head back to Bible school. All went well with their flight and their suitcases arrived with them! YEA! It will only be about five weeks and he will be home for the summer. If you think of him you could pray that things work out for him to find a job for the summer.

Run Away Bag

At 12:15 a.m. we received the long awaited phone call. Zachary's suitcase had arrived here on the campus! YES! Now, mind you, we weren't too excited that we received this phone call at 12:15 a.m. but the lost had been found. We tried giving the driver of the delivery van directions to our house but after about ten minutes it became apparent that he could not find our house and Vern and Zachary went out to find him. I phoned the baggage claim people countless times in the last couple of days and we were beginning to lose hope after they admitted yesterday morning that they had no idea where the suitcase was. But the lost has been found and Zachary is enjoying wearing his own clothes again.

LOST!

Last night Zachary arrived home as he is now on spring break. It will be good to have him home. I don't know how much we will actually see him as he is planning on spending a lot of time sleeping and eating. (Up until two weeks ago he was working full time plus going to school full time so he was not getting much sleep.) I think I will spend my week cooking and baking. It seemed a bit odd when he walked in the door empty handed. Yes, his luggage got lost. It seems like this is happening to a lot of people we know. So I guess it is now our turn. Although he did leave a few clothes items here we will need to make a run to Wal-Mart to pick up a few essentials. We are looking forward to the week ahead and making some fun family memories together.

Seth, Zachary, and Jon are on an indoor soccer league. The Bible School has a team from called "The Ripple". It was a lot of fun to be able to go to their first game. Mind you, the game was at 11:00p.m. so it was a late night by the time we got home. But we enjoyed going and being able to cheer the kids on. That was the first time I had ever seen indoor soccer played on official indoor turf. Unfortunately they did not win the game but they did have a lot of fun. The guys will have a great time playing on this league. We just wish we could go watch a few more games. GO RIPPLES!!!

Spring Break

This past week we had our spring break. We took off for Chicago and then headed to Waukesha. We spent the weekend with family. We have a lot of family in Chicago but we are usually only in the city for a couple of days and so usually don't get to see many of my siblings and family. It was neat that we were able to see 11 of my 14 siblings. Some we only saw for a few minutes but it was great to connect again with them. We stayed with Caleb and Kris and spent much of Saturday with them. Kris made us a great pancake breakfast with strawberries and whipped cream. (Yum, Yum) We had Chicago stuffed pizza which always hits the spot. On Sunday we went to our home church for their morning worship. It was so good to connect with them again. We were able to talk to quite a few people. This church has been so supportive of us and are a real blessing. Several folks came up to us and let us know that they pray for us every day. WOW! How we value that! The rest of the day was spent with my parents and family that dropped by.
