Focus On Marriage

Today Vern and I had the privilege to attend a "Focus On Marriage" simulcast conference. It was such an excellent conference as we were challenged from the truths of God's Word to see our marriages through the Eyes of God. For those of you who are married, I hope you are investing in your marriage and becoming a Christ centered spouse.

Touch Down

Yes, I my feet have touched down here in Ontario again. It is good to be home again, although I am very thankful I was able to go to Chicago to help out my parents and spend time with them and my siblings. Unfortunately as soon as I unpack my suitcase Vern will be filling it up again. We have the weekend together and then he takes off for almost three weeks.

Update on Shantell

Thanks for your prayers for Shantell.  She isn't having much pain from her surgery which is good.  However, due to the medicines she has been on they have upset her stomach and so she hasn't been able to eat much of anything.  Please pray that she can start eating normally so she can build her strength up.  She would like to be able to return to school and her normal routine in life.

Happy Birthday Caleb!

Today is another very special day in our family as it is Caleb's birthday.  It was a very exciting day as Caleb had us waiting for his entrance into this world.  I was 15 days late and was wondering if the day would ever come.  There were a few complications, and so it was a bit of a rough start but our journey had begun.  Caleb, you made it easy of us as new parents as you started sleeping through the night at six weeks and you were such a happy baby.  However, you did also bring us to our knees when you were six and we found out that you had a fairly serious heart condition.  Those were sure scary days for us as we prayed like never before that God would give you many more years on this earth.  Here you are now celebrating your 24th birthday.  (Thank-you God!)  We will never be rich in this world but God has given us such riches in our children.  We love you Caleb and pray for you daily that you will continue to pursue all  God has for you.  May you be 100% sold out for God, have a heart for the lost, and show love and passion to everyone you meet.  Continue to make a difference in this world for Christ!  Now that you have held you own precious child in your arms you know all about the love and joy that parenthood brings, and how you want God's very best for her; just like we do for you.  Have a WONDERFUL birthday!  Enjoy partying together with the family.  Know I am thinking of you and blowing my birthday horn over here celebrating your precious life.

Paczki Tuesday

Today has been called "Fat Tuesday", "Pancake Tuesday", or "Paczki Tuesday". This is not a day that we ever celebrate, however, on the news channel we watch, they always have a story about Paczkis on this Tuesday. They look so good and I have always wanted to try them. Today I was able to experience "Paczkis Tuesday". My sister Joy and her husband Don came over with some Paczkis. It was so nice to have a visit with them and what a special treat to eat a Paczkis. I have heard that a Paczki is about 400 calories. If that is the case, it was the best 400 calories I have ever eaten.

The Corner Bakery

Last night my sister Ruth took me out to supper. I just love neat soup and sandwich places. We went out to "The Corner Bakery". What a nice evening spending time with a dear sister over a nice warm bowl of soup. I am so privilege to come from a Christian family. It is wonderful to be able to not only connect as biological sisters but also as sisters in the Lord. We all need those relationships that spur us on spiritually. I am so thankful for the friends and family in my life who are those people that pray for me and encourage me along life's path. The message I heard Sunday morning was so good. The pastor was sharing about the different opportunities we have here on this earth that we won't enjoy in heaven. One of those is to encourage other believers. Once we all get to heaven we won't need any encouragement. What a neat thing to not only think about, but also to act upon. How are we doing in encouraging other believers? Are we taking advantage of that privilege we have here down on earth? I Don't know about you, but I want to be an encourager.

A Blast of Winter, AGAIN!

Well, it looks like the snow if following me .  I landed here in Chicago and almost all their snow was gone.  However, I woke up to LOTS of the white fluffy stuff.  The one picture is on the roads on the way to the airport and then there is my dad snow blowing.  Thanks for your prayers for Shantell.  It was a little rough in the evening after the surgery but she is doing pretty good and camping out on the couch.  I will be here for a week helping out and spending time with family.

Best Day Ever

In the words of Zachary this is the "Best Day Ever". It not only happens to be a Friday but it also happens to be a Snow Day. We had quite a snow storm here yesterday and during the night. The highway that Zachary takes to work is CLOSED. It is actually against the law to travel on roads that are closed. With all the snow we have had this winter, just once he wanted to have a SNOW DAY. So today is that day. Vern and I are heading to the airport today. We will be taking a different roads, that at this point are open. We would appreciate your prayers for safety on this winter roads.
