Field Day 2008, The FANS

It was so much fun to be a fan and to cheer on all those participating. We don`t all have athletic ability but we all have the ability to be an encourager and to cheer each other on in life.

Field Day 2008, Track Events,

As you can see there were all sorts of races in the track events. It involved more then the students, as there was a race for the toddlers as well as the men and women. All the runners did a great job! WAY TO BE!!!

Field Day 2008

Field Day was going to be on Wednesday but due to poor weather it was canceled until yesterday. It was nice and sunny, however, it was a bit chilly. Field Day started off with a bit of a program. All the athletes were lined up and we heard a wonderful challenge in the Word from one of the teachers. It was a great start to the day. We had a word of prayer and then the games began. (You will have to bear with me as I have a lot of great picture I want to share.)

It will be a late night and we would appreciate your prayers as we travel into the wee hours of the morning. We will be spending the night in Chicago and then we are heading up to Waukesha, WI. tomorrow afternoon for Zachary's graduation from the New Tribes Bible Institute. We are looking forward to celebrating this big event with Zachary.

Tea for Two and Two for Tea

Ruth was working on Mother's Day so the other day after school, Ruth took me on a date to a Tea House. We had been to this Tea House a couple of years ago but they have totally done a make over to make the atmosphere even nicer. For most of the time we had the Tea House to ourselves. (There is now a gift shop attached to the Tea House. )It was a lovely afternoon together with my daughter. Hey, all you girlfriends out there, when you make it to Durham to visit us, we'll have to stop in for you to experience the Tea House.

Willkommen Birgit!

In the path of life we have had the
privilege of meeting some amazing people. Birgit is a dear friend from Germany. She started in the training here the fall that we moved here. Therefore we spent two years with Birgit building a friendship and making some great memories together. Birgit has been working for several years in an orphanage in Ecuador. Her love for the Lord just radiates through her. When we said good-bye to her, we didn't know if we would ever see her again on this earth. Therefore it was such a treat to spend time with her yesterday. (She had a friend, Miriam, that came with her. Birgit is on the right.) We don't know if our paths will ever cross again but we can entrust this dear friend to the Lord knowing He goes before her and will take care of her. Thanks for a wonderful visit Birgit.

If Time Stood Still

I don't know how many times I have longed for "Time to Stand Still" and yet here I was faced with the reality of "Time Standing Still" and all I could feel was a sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach. I reached into the washer and I stared in disbelief as I saw "Time Standing Still". Be careful what you wish for!

To The Mother of My Children

Mother's Day! Overrated?? I don't think so!! I normally don't do this blogging thing but on such occasions as this, I am totally willing to move out of my comfort zone. I will get out of the hammock, put the sausage and stinky fish and vinegar to one side, put out the smoke in the smoke house, negate the urge for radishes and vinegar, let the dust settle on the golf clubs, turn a blind eye on the dirt on the vehicles, and allow the sunny Sunday of motorbike cruzin to be postponed for this important event. Mother's Day is important... well, important sounds too official. Perhaps I should say that Mother's Day is one of those days that should be celebrated in ways that surpass all other celebrations. Mother's invest and influence future generations like no other and I, Vernon W. Dyck salute you. Well, I salute, in this case, my wife, who has been the mother to our five children and who has done an amazing job at raising them, nurturing them and loving them. This blog is not the forum to communicate the many sacrifices that have been made on her part but I do want to say thank you. Thanks Holly for being a wonderful mother to our children. The supper, the flowers, the card, the decorations are but a very small token of our(hubby and children) appreciation of all that you have done for us. We love you!!

Happy Mother's Day!

We have three Mothers who are amazing ladies. They have been there for us throughout our lives loving us, supporting us, praying for us, and encouraging us. We won't be spending the day with any of them but we are sure thinking of them. Thanks so much to our incredible Mother's. We Love You!
