On the Road Again

Today we started the long trip home. We left at 3:38 a.m. A few hours before we left Ruth was looking on line to check out the border crossing to see if it was open 24 hours. After a while of looking and getting no definite answers we gave up the search and didn't think about it again. This was the first time we had ever crossed the border at this particular crossing. Guess what, it was not open 24 hours. When we arrived at 7:40 a.m. it was still closed. We were just glad we only had a 20 minute wait. We also had a VERY scary experience when we were driving in Southern B.C. A moose ran out on the road in front of us. It sure made my heart skip a few beats. We were very thankful for the Lord's protection in what could have been a very bad situation. We crossed through three states and are spending the night in Montana. We are all tired and looking forward to a good nights sleep.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is Mom's 82nd Birthday. It has been seven years since we have helped her celebrate her birthday. Needless to say it was VERY special that we were able to be here with her birthday. Happy Birthday Mom! We love you!

One Fish, Two Fish

On Saturday some good friends took us out on their boat. Ed and Helen are quite the fishermen but we really don't know too much about it ourselves. However, Titus is starting to take an interest in fishing so it was nice to be able to be out on the water. We only came home with two fish but some good memories were made as we fished and while we were playing the waiting game for the fish to bite.

The Quilting Capital of the World

We have visited Vanderhoof many times and I have never met so many people that quilted as in Vanderhoof. I feel like it is the Quilting Capital of Canada. (smile) My good friend Helen owns a quilting store where many of her quilts are on display. Another friend has a couple of pretty cool quilting machines. I had never seen anything like it before. The quilting machines are hooked up to computers and there are all sorts of patterns you can pick. In a number of hours Darlene and her nifty quilting machine are able to quilt a quilt with gorgeous quilting patterns and it would normally take many, many hours to quilt by hand. So all you quilters out there, next time you are in B,.C. you will have to come to Vanderhoof to visit the “Quilting Capital of Canada.”

The Geographical Center of B.C.

For the last four days we have been in Vanderhoof B.C. We were visiting good friends and a church that means a lot to us. For about 22 years we have enjoyed fellowshipping with our friends and church in Vanderhoof. They have been praying for us and behind our ministry and how we value their investment into our lives and ministry! It was wonderful having these days with you!

Hell's Gate

We passed by Hell’s Gate on this road trip. All these signs caught my eye so I thought I would share them. We didn’t make it down to see Hell’s Gate as it was too costly and we didn’t have the time. But with a name like hell’s gate, it would have been interesting to see what it actually looked like.

Happy Belated Birthday Seth!

Saturday was Seth’s 22nd birthday. I did not forget about it but we had no Internet where we were staying so I was not able to post this blog. Twenty Two years ago God blessed us with our second child, Seth. Since there was an emergency c-section being done at the same time I was delivering they were down on nurses and so as soon as Seth was born he was placed into the arms of his dad to hold while the doctor and nurse were busy with other things. He fell asleep right away in his dad’s arms. The nurse was so relieved to have an experienced dad in the delivery room. You would never know it now but Seth was our heaviest newborn weighing in at 8 pounds. Where has the time gone? Happy Birthday Seth! We wish we could have been there to help you celebrate! We love you and are glad you are our son.

Mission Complete

We have been in Mission B.C. since Sunday night. We have been spending time with some VERY dear friends of our Vern and Karyn. Our friendship began over 20 years ago before we went to Venezuela. They have been SUCH an encouragement to us through the years. It is has been so refreshing to spend time with them again. How we wish there weren't so many miles separating us. Thanks Vern and Karyn for loving on us and welcoming us like family. How we value your friendship and how you have invested in our lives and in our family! We will miss you!

What's new with Vern and Holly
