Happy Uncle's Day

On Father's Day morning we were sitting around talking about Father's and Murray said, "Hey, there should be an Uncle's Day." That's all it took for Ruth and I to run around town looking for an Uncle's card. I know I had seen them before. After the third store we were able to find a card honoring Uncles. And what would you get an Uncle to celebrate being an Uncle? Well what would be better then a peppered summer sausage and an old aged cheddar cheese. It might seem like a weird gift if your last name is not Dyck. However, for anyone in the Dyck clan it was the gift of choice. Ruth and Titus are enjoying having their Uncle Murray around and since who knows when they will see him again you have to enjoy each day and making some great memories together.

The Party Starts Here

Vern's family is all quite spread out and we don't get to see each other that much. The last time the family was all together was sevens years ago. We really treasure all the time we get with family. Vern's brother Murray, who lives in Australia is here right now. Since we have never made it over there for a visit is it so cool that our time here in B.C. is overlapping. We wanted to give him a warm welcome so we met him at the airport with our party horns. Since he had been up for over 24 hours with traveling I think we gave him a bit of a shock when he walked out of his gate and he heard these squeaky horns.

The "BEST" Place on Earth

We are in beautiful British Columbia. I don't know if it is the "Best" place on earth but it is certainly ONE of the best places on earth.

Rocky Mountain High

Being out West we have enjoyed mountains again. As we were getting closer to the mountains the excitement was mounting. We enjoyed seeing the beauty of God's creation through the prairies and now we are enjoying the beauty of the mountains. The main highway going across Canada goes right by Lake Louise so we stopped off there on the way to B.C. but unfortunately it was quite a rainy day so it was really foggy.

People Who Have Touched Our Lifes

We have had a good time making our way across Canada but what has been the biggest joy is visiting with all the very special people that God has bought into our lives. We are so blessed to have so many dear friends that have invested in our lives and our ministry. Although we don't see each other very often there is a bond in Christ and what a privilege to have such a great circle of friends. It won't be long and we will be on the road again visiting more dear people but here is a small glimpse of our time so far.

A Walk Back in Time

While we were in SK stopped by the cemetery where Vern's grandparents are buried. We wanted to show Ruth and Titus where their great grand parents were buried. It was not easy to find their graves as the grave stones are quite weathered. It was also a very cold and windy day and I wish I would have had my winter jacket with me. However, we were able to locate the graves along with some dear aunts and uncles that I have met and had some fond memories of. It has been nice being able to give our Ruth and Titus a bit of family history along our journey.

Our 25th Anniversary Memories

Well for those of you following our life via this blog, we have had trouble getting connected to the Internet. Hopefully we have worked out the bugs. The following are pictures of how we spent our 25th Anniversary on the road. We did start off the day with a special candle light breakfast that Vern cousin Gayle, and Ruth worked on for us. After that we were on the road. Midday we stopped at a dollar store and bought a special 25th balloon and some other decorations for the car. We even got some "romantic" music for $1.00. We stopped and took pictures at different places and enjoyed making some silly memories together.
