The Night Life

While we were in Victoria we enjoyed walking around "Inner Harbour" both during the day and at night. It was a lot of fun to see and listen to the different musicians playing and to see what the different busters were doing. It was a lot of fun and a "Must See" while you are in Victoria.

Butchart Gardens

While Vern and Titus were out on their bike outing Ruth and I went to Butchart Gardens. The last time I was at a flower garden like this was over 25 year ago. Vern took me to a indoor flower garden near Milwaukee and at one point he was down on one knee and proposed to me. So romantic isn't he. After 25 years it was time to go to another garden. Over the past couple of years Ruth and I started to dabble in gardening. We don't know a whole lot but we enjoy asking questions and we try our hand at a little gardening. It was a cloudy day and we have to pull out our umbrella a couple of times but it really was a perfect day.

Pedal Pushers

Yesterday Vern and Titus rented bikes for the day and went all over the place exploring. They rode quite a few miles but saw a lot of neat things. It was a really nice day for it. Though it was cloudy at times and there was some light rain it didn't affect their outing. There was even enough time at the end of the day for Vern and I to go for a little ride as well.

Anchors Away My Friend

I just love the sound of this horn. What a RUSH!

Anchors Away My Friend

With all the time we have lived in B.C. we have never made it to Victoria. However, one of our ministry partners wanted to make that dream a reality so they paid for our ferry trip over here. WOW! That was so awesome of them and now we are spending a couple of days here in Victoria. The ferry ride was a pretty cool experience although I have to admit I did feel a bit sick on the ferry. I would hate to see how I would feel if I went on a cruise. Thank-you to our dear friends for your part in making this trip a reality!

Wall.E

This picture is for all those who have watched the Wall.E movie. When I drove past this I couldn't help but take a picture of it.

Happy Birthday Zachary!

Twenty years ago our third son Zachary entered our family. He was our first child born in Venezuela. Since I was not fluent in Spanish and Vern was not allowed into the delivery room it was a bit of a scary experience. We are thankful that all went well and the Lord blessed us with a healthy little baby who has grown into a wonderful young man. Zachary, we love you and are so privileged to have you in our family. You have had that all important role of being the "middle child". It's a big responsibility but thanks for taking that on your shoulder. (smile) Have a very Happy Birthday. We sure wish we could be there to help you celebrate. Know that we are thinking of you!

All In the Family

It is very seldom that three Dyck siblings are together. This picture was taken when Vern's brother Murray was here. With so many mile separating the Dyck Gang, any time spent together is very precious.

Happy Canada Day

Yesterday we celebrated Canada Day. We decided to enjoy a nice relaxing day at home with family. We started off the day with a nice brunch and for supper we had a great fajita meal. I was a little disappointed at what the dollar store had to offer for decorations but never the less we did get some decorations up. Right before we ate supper we stood and sang "O' Canada". With having some warm days here we had the patio door open. Therefore when we sang the national anthem the neighbors in the senior complex stood up and sang along with us. After supper we gathered around the piano while Vern's sister played and we sang a few Canada songs. We sang O' Canada, God Save the Queen, The Red River Valley, and the Canadian version of: This Land is You Land. We watched a movie and then headed downtown to the lake for some fireworks. It was a nice Canada Day. What a privilege to live in a free country!

A Nice Surpise

As you know we have been spending time connecting with our ministry partners. It has been so good and such an encouragement to us. Our dear ministry partners have blessed us over and over again. We went to visit two different couples yesterday, Frank & Agatha and Mavis & Roy. Mavis and Roy live right on the lake and had worked it out with their sister and husband to take us out on the lake for some tubing. It was such a cool surprise for us and especially for our kids. What a treat on a very warm day! It was another great day spent with good friends who gave us the royal treatment.

What's new with Vern and Holly
