Today in Sunday our lesson was about Jehovah Jireh: God is our Provider. We started off talking about names, how parents pick names, and the meaning of names. Then we talked about the names we have. Then we went to the story of Abraham. God provides a son to Abraham when he was VERY old. (A true miracle.) But then later we see God asking Abraham to go and sacrifice his son as a burnt offering. Abraham goes out with his precious son and prepares to make that sacrifice. At one point Isaac asks Abraham, "Where is the Lamb for the sacrifice?". He answers, "God will provide." And God did indeed provide a ram and Isaac's life was spared. I have heard this story many times before but I was blessed and challenged once again by this story and by the name of God : Jehovah Jireh - God is our provider. We personally have seen God do a couple of very neat things in the last week. God provided for specific needs that we have had. I don't know about you but it seems like there are always needs in front of us whether financial, physical, or emotional. It is easy to be anxious. Our God has not changed as just as he provided a son in Abraham's old age and provided a ram to be sacrificed he will provide for our needs. Whatever your hearts need today I pray that you will be encouraged that Jehovah Jireh is right beside you. He will Provide. His timing is prefect and His ways are perfect. He will probably provide in ways totally different then what you might anticipate but it will be what is in the best interest of you, His dear child. Praise the Lord for - JEHOVAH JIREH - GOD IS OUR PROVIDER.

Bethlehem Broadcasting System

Tonight was our Sunday School Christmas program. In Sunday School we have been practicing for weeks for this big night. The Christmas story was told through reporters of the "World News Tonight". All the children did a great job. The church was filled with family and friends to help celebrate the evening together.

Take On the Sibling Challenge

Today was the last day of our normal Sunday School for this school year. Next Sunday our church will be starting their summer schedule and Sunday school will have a different lay out. Therefore I planned a little party for my 3rd grade Sunday School class. The kids were thrilled with the streamers and balloons not to mention the snacks. We covered many things throughout the year first and foremost their relationship to the Lord. We then talked of how we can show God's love to others. I also introduced something I call taking on "The Sibling Challenge". Each week I would challenge the kids to be doing acts of kindness at home to their siblings. I also encouraged them to spread this to their parents, friends, and neighbors. These acts of kindness were supposed to be things that no one asked them to do but ways they could show love towards others. I chose "siblings" as anyone growing up with siblings knows that it is something easier to be kinder to friends then your own sibling. It was fun each week for my students to be excited about something they did to help or encourage one of their sibling. I printed up a "Sibling Challenge" paper for each child to bring home and hang up in their bedroom for the summer to help remind them to show God's love to their siblings and others. Maybe you don't have any sibling s at home anymore but how about taking on the "Family Challenge", "Friend Challenge", or the "co-Worker Challenge" and spread God's love through your acts of kindness.
