Anticipation

Every day at 6:00 p.m Cuddle sits by the door and waits for Seth to come home from work. When Seth comes home, he usually goes outside to play with her. The other day Seth was 1/2 hour late as he didn't get home until 6:30p.m. and Cuddles just sat there and waited the whole time. It is amazing that she just knows when it is 6:00p.m. She is such a loyal dog.

Cuddles Meets Ivy

We are staying with one of my sisters who has a dog named Ivy. Ivy is very gentle and loves people and other animals. Our dog Cuddles made the trip down from Canada to Chicago. And although Cuddles loves people, she is used to being the only animal in the house. Therefore we are trying to help Cuddles adjust to living with another dog.

A NOT so Professional Haircut

With the weather turning colder and winter around the corner Cuddles was needing a haircut. She was looking pretty shaggy and it is far better for her to get a haircut now rather than the middle of winter. Also, if her hair is too shaggy she collects snowballs on her fur when she is outside and it takes forever for them to melt and dry off. (As you can imagine getting a hair cut and bath are not her favorite things to do so we usually try to move quickly.) We bought a dog clippers several months ago so we are still learning in how to best cut her hair. Well, with the first cut I could tell that something was terribly wrong. I thought I was putting on the 1/3 of an inch clip attachment, however, it was actually the 1/8 of an inch. Since it is hard for me to see small numbers I only saw half of the 8 and though it was a 3. Well with that first cut it was like giving her a shave. I quickly changed the size of the cutting attachment. The pictures of the finished haircut are not showing the side with the shave on it. At least it won't take too long for her hair to grow and everything to look all shaggy again.

Extreme Makeover

One thing we love about our dog Cuddles is that she does not shed. But because of that, her hair grows pretty long. We have done different things in the past like used a normal hair cutting buzzers or just taking out a pair of scissors and start cutting. The problem with using a normal hair cutting buzzers is that her hair is so thick the buzzers will always clog up and it also seems to hurt her as it pulls at her hair. When using a pair of scissors it is hard to get a consistent cut. So a couple of days ago we took the plunge and bought a dog hair cutting clippers. The one we bought came with a DVD we can watch to get pointers on different methods of cutting a dog's hair. We will enjoy watching it but we were too anxious to try out our new little toy to watch the DVD. Although Cuddles doesn't like to get her hair cut it did seem like this time it was a little less traumatic then usual. So the dog clippers did go through her hair so much nicer then the normal clippers. Cuddles hair was pretty long so Ruth and I worked at it for a little while. She looks like she is half the dog she used to be with all that fluffy fur gone. She is now ready for the warmer weather to hit. So heat wave, we are ready for you!
