Bring A Friend Night

Well, it was actually bring a "Stuffed Animal Night" at Cubbies last night. However, you could tell that some of the stuffed animals were dear companions of the Cubbies. As the beginning of club I let each Cubbie introduce their stuffed animal and tell us a little bit about them. Then through out the night I tried to do as much as possible with our furry friends like: sing some songs as the stuffed animals did the actions, recite verses with them, and play games that included their stuffed animal. I think the Cubbies enjoyed bringing their favorite stuffed animal and it was a nice "special event night" to do in the middle of winter.

Birthday Party For Jesus

Last night was the last night of Cubbies before Christmas. Therefore we had a "Birthday Party For Jesus". I was able to use all the balloons we had blown up earlier in the week to help decorate our Cubbies room. We were thankful that it was not snowing and we had a full group of Cubbies for our party. It was a fun to do something special with the Cubbies while teaching them what Christmas is all about.

Inside Out Night

Tonight at Cubbies we had "Inside Out Night". I don't think I have ever worn jeans inside out before. It isn't the most comfortable but it was better then wearing them backwards. I think Ruth had the right idea with wearing sweats .

Last Night of Cubbies

Tonight was our last night of Cubbies for the year. We invited the parents for a program in which each group presented some thing. Then each child who finished a book was given their award. The Cubbies sang a couple of songs and said several of their memory verses. I must say the Cubbies were nice and enthusiastic as we sang our songs. (Good job!) Our church did some thing really special for all the Cubbies who were graduating into the next program. Each child graduating received a Lamb book which also comes with a CD of the story being read. So the Cubbies will be able to hear the gospel message over and over again. It was a good year and we saw many of the children grow and mature. We also saw their understanding for God increase. It really was a privilege to be a part of their lives each week. I had some great leaders working with me who did an tremendous job.

Please Pray

In a few minutes we will be leaving for Awana. We only have two club nights left for the year. I would appreciate your prayers as I have only two Bible lessons left with our Cubbies. I am using "The Lamb" book which explains the gospel in a beautiful way for young children to understand. These last two weeks I will be recapping every thing we have learned and presenting the gospel to them. Pray for these little ones that they will understand this precious message. Some of the children are understanding but some have lots of questions yet.

Flashlight Night

Last night at Cubbies was another special evening we had Flashlight Night. It is probably one of the "special event evenings" that our Cubbies enjoy the most. I like to buy glow necklaces for the kids to add to the fun of the evening. During our Bible story the kids have to put their flashlights under their chairs otherwise we plan on using up the batteries in the flashlights. The favorite song for the evening is "This Little Light of Mine". Our game time was a lot of fun as I had hid a bunch of stuff animals and we went on a safari and tried to "catch" as many animals as possible. We played several games with our flashlight but then we sat around in a circle and went on a scary "Bear Hunt". The kids had a great time with that and wanted to go on a lion hunt so we did that as well. Then we ended our game time playing "I Spy With My Little Eye".

Stuffed Animal Night

Tonight at Cubbies it was "Stuffed Animal Night". So all the Cubbies brought in their favorite stuffed animal to spend the night with us. Since I was still feeling very out of it from my "Spa Experience" Vern came with us to help out. The Cubbies enjoyed having their stuffed animal friends with them for the night. We played some special games with the stuffed animal and the night was a great success. We'll have to put it on the schedule again for next year. (Thanks again to my leaders and hubby for taking over when I was feeling like going back to bed.)
