Extreme Makeover

Erica's husband Greg is a body and detail man on cars, however, his talents also reaches into other areas. During the hair cutting class Greg gave Titus an extreme makeover and cut his hair into flames. It looks pretty cool.

Hair Cutting Class

Every year we have different classes during jungle camp. One of the classes is hair cutting class. This year Erica who is one of our students and also a hair dresser taught the class for us. She did three different demonstrations and then everyone who wanted to try their hand at giving a hair cut did. Ruth got into the action as she gave her dad a hair cut. Everyone enjoyed having the hands on help and we all learned a lot.

The Visit has Come to an End

We have enjoyed having my nephew Joshua here with us for a week. On Tuesday we went to Buffalo for him to fly home. It was so nice to have him here. Titus and Joshua are the same age, born only one week apart. It had been awhile since they were able to spend some good time together. He definitely went home with more mosquito bites then what he came with. Thanks for the visit, Josh!

No Trespassing!

I just popped in the door for a few minutes so I thought I would give you a quick jungle camp update. Well, we slept quite well in the bush but some of our jungle campers had some unwanted visitors in the middle of the night. Two different families had some raccoons visit them. The one raccoon went on a shelf and pulled off a plastic ice pail filled with instant mashed potatoes. I am not sure about the other raccoon but I think he was trying to get into some crackers. And very early in the morning there were two teenagers that were wandering around the camp. They probably did not realize that we were moved up and the houses were filled with people. A student couple woke up and was able to show them the way out of camp. So it was a lively night. And I think everyone is looking forward to a better nights sleep tonight.

Happy Father's Day

Since we will be up in jungle camp tomorrow I am posting this early. These are three VERY special DADS. Thanks DADS for being men of God who give love and guidance to your children! We LOVE YOU! Thanks for investing in our lives. We wish we could spend the day with you. And to my HUBBY thanks for the AWESOME dad you are to our children!

Jungle Camp Move Up!

Yes! Today is the big day that we move up to jungle camp. For the students this is the end of a LOT of VERY hard work. And they have all done such a great job! Our students have spent the past months in planning for jungle camp and now the day has arrived. Our students back pack everything up into their jungle camp homes. Many of the households started at midnight and others in the wee hours of the morning. For us as staff we will be able to come down to do things as needed but for our students it means four weeks of bush living. Please be praying for our students as many are VERY tired from their weeks of building. There will definitely be some adjustments to live with electricity and the comforts of home. We are however all looking forward to some good times of fellowship. Thanks to the Meyer family for providing lunch for the students and words of encouragement! What a Blessing!

House Keeping

As you know we are moving up to jungle camp today. Since we are on staff and go up every year to jungle camp we live in a permanent house. It still has plastic walls but we do have a tin roof and our furniture is made out of wooden boards instead of poles. But there is still work to do to get the house livable. As you can see the whole wall was ripped down between Ruth's bed and the kitchen. She figured she could be like the Greeks and just lounge and eat her supper.
Our new bathrooms are ready to use. There still is a little work to do but we are excited about the new facilities!

This is the Way We Wash the Dishes

Titus and Josh were helping me with the dishes. The boys were on drying while I was washing. Josh was having a little too much fun with his new method of drying dishes. (smile)

Cuddling with Cuddles

Ruth has not been feeling well for several days and has a VERY sore throat. It was very hard getting in to see the doctor as he was totally booked. But Ruth was able to see another doctor yesterday afternoon. She has strep throat and so has been laying low. She is on medicine now but will have to work tonight and full days Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. As you can see Cuddles has been enjoying having someone to Cuddle with.

Back Home

It was a tight ride home in the car with four of us. My nephew came back home with us and is staying with us for a week. We passed that Baby Ruth sign on the way home and Ruth couldn't resist taking a picture of it. Now it is back to life here and getting ready for the big jungle camp move up on Saturday.
